Emergency Department Update - 9 Days Until Handover!
Hi Everyone,
We are entering the final few days of construction work,
with the contractors on schedule to hand over the keys to Leicester’s Hospitals
on Monday 6 March! Work on the build started in 2015 so as the opening
approaches it is a very exciting time for everyone involved.

When
the building work has finished we will start training and begin to familiarise our
staff to their new working environment. Lots of work is going on behind the
scenes to make sure that everyone knows what they are doing and where
everything is so that they can begin treating patients on Wednesday 26th April.

Children’s Hospital rocket logo (paid for by Leicester Hospitals Charity) has
recently been installed.

The spacious Adult Reception area is almost complete.
Between
Monday 6th March and Wednesday 26th April (when the new department opens
to the public), there is still a lot of work to complete. The IT team will be working hard to ensure the
necessary systems are in place and deliveries of new equipment will be
arriving. Corporal Ian Crowe,
Non-Executive Director at Leicester’s Hospitals, has enlisted the aid of some
members of the army to help us kit out the rooms! And before the doors open we
will use the skills of a specialised cleaning company to clean the whole
department to our high clinical standards.

doors fitted and most work is now complete.
The next few weeks are critical to the success of the new
Emergency Department. Everyone involved is working extremely hard to make it a
success.
We hope you have enjoyed this update and progress photos and
look forward to sharing more with you in our next post.
Best wishes,
The Emergency Floor Project Team.
