Another milestone of progress with our new Emergency Department has been reached this week as the steel frames for the new building have started to be put into the ground...





Did you know...when our new multi-storey car park is open, there will be 600 spaces available in the Havelock Street car park.

Hi Everyone, We are entering the final few days of construction work, with the contractors on schedule to hand over the keys to Leicester’s Hospitals on Monday 6 March! Work on the build started in 2015 so as the opening approaches it is a very exciting time for everyone involved.  Above: The new ambulance bay. When the building work has finished we will start training and begin to familiarise our staff to their new working environment. Lots of work is going on behind the scenes to make sure that everyone knows what they are doing and where everything is so that they can begin treating patients on Wednesday 26th April. Reaching the top

Construction of our new Emergency Floor has now reached the highest point of the build, as we continue to make steady progress to completion of the new build... The inside of the department is coming together, as the space for all the areas of the new Floor start to take shape.

35 days to go!

Hi Everyone, After three years in the making, we have now officially taken ownership of our new Emergency Department from Interserve Construction team. The Department is looking fantastic! Thank you to everyone who has been involved to date for all their hard work to get us to this point. Above: Our Chief Executive John Adler receiving the keys for the new building. As we move towards the opening on Wednesday 26 April, the construction team will be putting the finishing touches to the department, our IT team will ensure that all of the technology is working, whilst the ED team will start to familiarise themselves with the new space.  Colleagues from other parts of our organisation who provide direct patient care within ED will then be invited to look round the department with their teams.  Finally before the opening our cleaning crew will do a thorough clean and decontamination (deep clean) before the doors open to the first patients at 4am on Wednesday 26 April. ...
