Hello Everyone! It’s finally 2017, and there are only a handful of weeks until phase 1 of the Emergency Floor will be handed over by the contractors and open to the public! In readiness for this, we will be bringing you bi-weekly updates focusing on different areas within the new build. This week we will be focusing on the new Paediatric Emergency Department. The two pictures below show the entrance to the Paediatric department both inside and out. This is located along Infirmary Way opposite the Jarvis building and next to the Victoria building. Work continues to build the external walkway (picture below left). Sound diffusing panels are now in place in the Paediatric Atrium (picture below right). Special frailty friendly rubber flooring has been laid in the new Paediatric Observation Ward (POW). Construction continues at pace with the build of our Emergency Floor...piling rigs are drilling holes in the ground to make way for the concrete that will become the foundations of the new building. Did you know ...everyday, 3,355 patients attend one of our outpatient clinics.
Another milestone of progress with our new Emergency Department has been reached this week as the steel frames for the new building have started to be put into the ground... Did you know... when our new multi-storey car park is open, there will be 600 spaces available in the Havelock Street car park.
