Hello Everyone! It’s finally 2017, and there are only a handful of weeks until phase 1 of the Emergency Floor will be handed over by the contractors and open to the public! In readiness for this, we will be bringing you bi-weekly updates focusing on different areas within the new build. This week we will be focusing on the new Paediatric Emergency Department. The two pictures below show the entrance to the Paediatric department both inside and out. This is located along Infirmary Way opposite the Jarvis building and next to the Victoria building. Work continues to build the external walkway (picture below left).  Sound diffusing panels are now in place  in the Paediatric Atrium (picture below right).   Special frailty friendly rubber flooring has been laid in the new Paediatric Observation Ward (POW). Progress continues at pace on our new Emergency Floor...

Construction within the new emergency floor carries on at pace, as the space slowly turns into our new majors bays, resuscitation bays, and waiting areas, to name just a few...

Good progress continues to be made on the interior of our new Emergency Floor as the inside space becomes more defined. The areas that will soon become out initial assessment area, ambulance bay and resus bays are taking shape...

Construction of our new Emergency Floor has now reached the highest point of the build, as we continue to make steady progress to completion of the new build... The inside of the department is coming together, as the space for all the areas of the new Floor start to take shape.

The layout of our new Emergency Floor is taking shape, as walls go up and the outside nears completion.

The final parts are being put into place on the roof of our new Emergency Floor, so we'll be watertight in the coming week. The internal walls are also going up, giving the first 'live' view of what the space will be like in the new floor...
