Concrete on the ground...

Our new Emergency Floor is literally taking shape this week, as more concrete is poured into the space made on the building site...

Our doctors and nurses are really excited by the progress on the building site and can't wait for next Winter, when the first part of the building - the Accident and Emergency Department - will open its doors.




The new 'roundabout' is taking shape at what will become the new ambulance entrance to A&E.  


Did you know...Everyday, patients missing appointments costs us £19,680.

Paediatric Emergency Department Progress!

Hello Everyone! It’s finally 2017, and there are only a handful of weeks until phase 1 of the Emergency Floor will be handed over by the contractors and open to the public! In readiness for this, we will be bringing you bi-weekly updates focusing on different areas within the new build. This week we will be focusing on the new Paediatric Emergency Department. The two pictures below show the entrance to the Paediatric department both inside and out. This is located along Infirmary Way opposite the Jarvis building and next to the Victoria building. Work continues to build the external walkway (picture below left).  Sound diffusing panels are now in place  in the Paediatric Atrium (picture below right).   Special frailty friendly rubber flooring has been laid in the new Paediatric Observation Ward (POW). Recognising that patients of all ages can be frail, charitable funding was used to make this enhancement which can only benefit our patients.

It's so good to see progress being made every week on our new Emergency Floor... Did you know... Today marks the official opening of our Multi-Storey Car Park at the Royal Infirmary. The new car park means there are now 600 spaces in Havelock Street.
